MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):

Applicants must be a Junior, Senior or Graduate student in psychology, sociology, social work, or other human services related four-year degree program.
Possession of a valid driver's license, if needed.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal skills with some understanding of public service and social work would be preferred.

The academic internship is used to provide internship placements for students who seek a practical work experience in their academic field of study to fulfill a specific degree requirement.

Division options for academic internship placement:

Children & Family Services - This internship offers the opportunity to assist child protection social workers in assessing and investigating reports of child maltreatment, child protection case management and coordination of services, as well as voluntary supportive services such as family support services or foster care. Intern Trainees may be responsible for work in the following units: Initial Intervention Unit including the Family Assessment/Family Assessment Case Management and Investigation Units, Ongoing Child Protection, Ongoing Indian Child Welfare, Foster Care, Children’s Mental Health, Family Support Services, Adoption Services, Intensive Family Based Services, and Minor Parent/Youth in Transitions.

Behavioral Health - Substance use disorder, Adult Mental Health, Adult Protection, Guardianship and Homelessness

Home & Community Based Services - Waivers Intellectual Disabilities, Aging, Adult & Child Disabilities and MnChoices assessment

Public Health - Aging Adult Health

Planning, Resource and Organizational Development (PROD) - Organizational and resource development along with training and facilitation

POSITION INFORMATION:
Academic Internship placements are temporary appointments to fulfill academic requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: These positions will require office work, and contact with service providers or families within our community.
