Job Description:
Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital. The comprehensive healthcare system includes a 484 bed academic medical center, a large outpatient Clinic & Specialty Center, and a network of primary and specialty care clinics in Minneapolis and in suburban communities. SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a Sustainability Specialist to join our team. The Sustainability Specialist utilizes best-practices to develop and manage sustainability efforts with members of the HHS community to drive implementation of major HHS-wide sustainability initiatives and programs. To accomplish this, they will need to propose innovative ideas, develop, and execute comprehensive project plans, and strengthen relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including providers, team members, senior leaders, and external partners.
Required COVID-19 Vaccinations for Employees

RESPONSIBILITIES
Focus on planning, preparing content for a sustainability action plan and as well as relevant reporting, including internal stakeholder groups and external partnerships
One primary deliverable will be an annual report high-lighting annual activities, project prioritization, and cost savings/forecasts
Lead sustainability efforts related to the redevelopment and construction of the hospital campus
Coordinate and lead the Sustainability Committee, working groups and initiatives
Research and provide analysis on a wide range of sustainability topics, including emissions reduction opportunities, energy management, life cycle costing analysis, sustainable development, health, transportation, and the built environment, etc.
Develop and communicate strategies for energy resource & conservation, building design & performance, waste management, transportation, education, and building design Develop and manage project plans from conception through implementation, in collaboration with the Sustainability Committee, Hennepin County, and key stakeholders
Advise on strategy and contribute creatively to Climate Action Planning, Dashboard, and Sustainability Plan framework
Foster relationships with departments across HHS and Hennepin County to further shared sustainability initiatives
Lead effective meetings and stakeholder groups
Coordinate with department contacts to identify tasks and self-perform the work to support sustainability and compliance goals
Effectively communicate Sustainability Committee Work and engage employees
Conduct benchmarking and analysis, perform management and administrative duties to fulfill responsibilities
Lead biannual events related to waste disposal, equipment, and furniture inventory
Develop sustainability reports, presentations, or proposals for internal use, media, government, public interest, and other groups as needed
Create and manage marketing materials on the sustainability practices at HHS

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, architecture/design, business, or related field
Demonstrated working knowledge of sustainability industry trends
Extensive experience with MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. An ability to learn Hennepin Healthcare systems and web software quickly is a requirement

An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in environmental science, sustainability, healthcare administration or related field
Experience in like-sized AND COMPLEX organizations
Relevant Certifications (LEED, ISSP, WELL, CSCP)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent relationship-building and people skills; comfort and ability to engage and build coalitions with diverse audiences
Excellent Communication, writing, and presentation skills for a variety of audiences
Proven ability to think critically and solve problems
High degree of flexibility, adaptability, and general ability to respond to emerging opportunities and barriers in a constantly changing environment
Knowledge of health systems preferred
Experience collaborating with clinical staff preferred
Proven ability to conduct research and analysis on assorted topics and product reliable metrics and data
Ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary
Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
