Preferred Skills: | Two (2) years post-secondary education Experience working as an eligibility specialist or financial worker in a county/state human service agency Experience working with MAXIS/MMIS/MNsure and PRISM computer programs Completion of Financial Worker training or completion of a Public Welfare Financial Worker program degree or diploma Experience with interviewing practices and techniques Experience interpreting, explaining programs and determining eligibility for programs Fluent in a second language |

Job Description: |
Under direct supervision of the Financial Assistance Supervisor, the Eligibility Specialist supports the Human Services mission of effectively and efficiently delivering essential services to families and individuals so they can achieve their potential through active community participation. The position administers financial programs to support the basic needs of the elderly, disabled, and low-income families and individuals. The Eligibility Specialist determines eligibility for public assistance programs through interviewing and evaluating clients’ needs for internal and external services. This position is also responsible for developing and coordinating employment services activities, addressing and analyzing allegations of fraud, coordinating administrative appeal of agency actions, establishing and maintaining working relationships with other agencies and participating in continuing education.
