Here’s what you can expect to do in this role: Perform skilled support work to assist, direct, and respond to internal and external customers. Exercise judgment to identify resources, understand requests, provide information, resolve problems, disseminate information, enter, and manipulate data, and refer callers to appropriate units to address customer needs. Works with other department/office staff, City information sources, and external sources to provide timely and accurate information. Elicit information sufficient to fully address customer issues such as billing, permit, registration, license, events, and other City services. Perform related duties as required.

Customer Service Representative – Department of Safety and Inspections: This position supports the City's Information and Complaint line and assists, directs, and responds to internal and external customers. The position provides effective customer service answering questions about city policies and procedures, entering complaints, and using a variety of software programs, maps, and tools.

Customer Service Representative – Saint Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS): This position assists, directs, and responds to internal and external SPRWS customers. The position resolves problems with water bills, disseminates information related to SPRWS accounts and policies, uses data provided to create water billings, and refers callers to correct channels to address water related queries.

Customer Service Representative – Public Works: This position assists, directs, and responds to internal and external Public Works garbage program customers The position responds to customer inquiries related to solid waste services and resident questions about the City’s solid waste policies and procedure using multiple computer applications, maps, and tools.
