Fairmont Hy-Vee is looking to hire a Bakery Cake Designer. This position is a part time.

Job Duties:
• Responsible for decorating bakery items.
• Assist customers with their bakery orders.
• Communication skills by phone and in person.
• Ensure positive company image.
• Provide courteous, friendly and efficient customer service to customers and team members.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly cust. svc.
• Caring, concern and patience in cust. interactions
• Treat cust. as most important people in the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner.
• Positive in employee’s area or elsewhere in store.
• Makes an effort to learn customers’ names.
• Address cust. by name whenever possible.
• Escorts cust. to products they’re looking for.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Secure products out of reach.
• Loading or unloading heavy items.
• Performing other tasks as needed.
• Enhance the shopping experience.
• Answers phone promptly.
• Friendly/helpful svc to customers who call in.
• Take accurate product orders.
• Takes customer orders at Bakery counter.
• Works with co-workers as a team.
• To ensure customer satisfaction.
• To ensure a pleasant work environment.
• Checks orders for the day.
• Sets up a timeline and production schedule.
• Decorates bakery items in a timely manner.
• Keeps current on new designs and trends.
• Ensures department standards are met.
• Checks cake orders for details (size, deco pack, icing needs, dates) daily and indicates supply needs.
Additional Duties:
• Orders supplies for decorating area.
• Checks off order.
• Delivers product for wedding cakes.
• Sets up wedding cakes on site at wedding location
• Communicates with Bakery Manager regularly.
• Works on displays, weekly ads and special needs.
• Checks product dates and pulls cases for work.
• Lists items to fill or replace.
• Develops bakery orders for bakers on a daily basis. (Orders cakes, sizes, etc.)
• Tracks daily retail production. Identifies, with co-workers, tasks to be completed.
Additional Job Description:
• Operates as a lead worker with part-time or other employees. (Instructs and reviews work).
• Participates in employee cross training.
• Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and work area is always clean and neat.

• Adheres Companies policies and store guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
• Wraps all product as necessary.
• Assists in other areas of the store as needed.
• Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Must have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions.
• Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
• Must have the ability to file.
• Post and mail materials.
• Copy data from one record to another.
• Interview to obtain basic information.
• Guide people and provide basic direction.
Education and Experience: High school or equivalent experience and six months or less of similar or related work experience.
