Job SummaryThe Machinist Intern position allows students pursuing a career in the manufacturing industry the opportunity to gain experience while completing their program.Essential Functions WHAT WE WILL TEACH YOU TO DOSet up and operate computer numerical controls (CNC) on machining centers to fabricate parts.Load parts in the machine, cycle machine and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.Run production lots, communicate with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment.Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or engineers.Operate CNC Mills and/or Lathes with knowledge of multiple pallets and work coordinated systems as they apply to existing CNC machines.Perform inspection of machined products and document results.Analyze processes and provide solutions to problems while working on reducing setup and cycle times.Complete and maintain paperwork for parts.Assist in other work areas as needed.Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
