Job Summary:
Assist emergency room team, in a consultant role to provide clinical care, evaluation and disposition recommendation to patients and families presenting to the emergency room in mental health or substance abuse crisis. Provide written recommendation for level of care and coordinates placement, plan and/or referral as needed. Uses organizational admission criteria and documents/communicates interaction and disposition to team for all admissions to system.

Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities

Conduct face-to-face and telephone consultation with patients in crisis/psychiatric emergencies.



Assess clinical condition.


Recommend appropriate level of clinical care.




Coordinate admission and/or intakes.



Interface with insurance.


Coordinate authorization.




Referral of patients to outpatient services either within or outside the system.

Enter and track data on clients.



Document contact information


Note disposition of case.


Document referral outcomes.




Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or other mental health profession required

2 to 5 Years in behavioral health setting required

Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required if applicable upon hire or


Licensed Social Worker - MN Board of Social Work preferred upon hire or


Licensed Psychologist - MN Board of Psychology preferred upon hire or
