Job Description:
Northern Technologies, LLC, a rapidly growing geotechnical consulting and materials testing firm, has openings for Engineering Technician 6-month Co-op Interns starting in the spring / summer of 2021 based out of our Eagan, MN location.

NTI, established in 1996, practices in the areas of Geotechnical & Materials Engineering, Materials Testing, Environmental and Forensics with offices in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rapid City, Fargo, Grand Forks and Bismarck. NTI employs over 110 engineers, technicians and support staff serving a variety of clients including architectural and engineering firms, developers, contractors, facility managers and all levels of government.

The successful candidate for the Engineering Technician Co-op Intern - Construction Materials Testing position will have the following qualifications and experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

Interest in materials testing

Ability to lift, carry, or move samples up to 50 lbs.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Aptitude for mathematics

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job duties for the student Engineering Technician Co-op Intern - Construction Materials Testing include:

Perform field and laboratory tests on soil, concrete, bituminous, aggregates, mortar and masonry units, structural steel welding and bolted connections as well as other construction materials

Maintain orderly and timely processing of project paperwork including completion of field or laboratory test or observation sheets, and logbook and other necessary requirements for nuclear gauge operation

Achieve proficiency in all tests NTI performs by taking and passing all appropriate certifications

Communicate all job observations, passing or failing of tests or other information to project manager

Keep vehicles clean and organized

Maintain log of laboratory inventory and calibration work

Produce a high technical quality of work

Represent NTI in a professional manner through communication and appearance.



*At least 50% of the time is anticipated to be outdoors performing on-site inspection/observation activities.
