QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bilingual applicants preferred.
• Four-year degree in Human Service related area.
• Ability to respond effectively to individual and cultural needs as well as different learning styles.
• Experience working with English language learners, immigrants/refugees, students of color, or low income communities.
• Ability to multi-task and problem solve quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong and proficient computer skills required.
• Experience and desire to work with persons of diverse cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
• Able to travel independently throughout the Central Minnesota area.

SALARY: $39,000 per year

Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides customized family services to immigrants and refugees who have been in the country for less than five years. The primary focus will be on ensuring the children’s success in the K-12 school system. Services will incorporate a 2 Gen programming approach and family coaching best practices using the of U of M Check and Connect platform. Services include, but are not limited to, engaging in a one-to-one partnership with families, ELL and child mentorship, facilitation of workshops and tutorial sessions, and curriculum development. Interested candidates must be available evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide outreach to families in the area in partnership with the school district, community organizations and community leaders.
• Develop relevant and practical goal plans based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students.
• Implements a variety of instructional delivery methods that integrate oral culture and non-traditional teaching methods as well as computer programs that help students achieve meaningful learning gains.
• Creates a climate that encourages and supports continued learning for all family members.
• Evaluate and document student performance into several data base systems.
• Discusses areas of improvement with students and develops appropriate strategies to address these needs.
• Assist and prepare enrollees in securing employment, internships and/or supported work opportunities as appropriate.
• Develop s and delivers lesson plans and provides high quality instruction to Adult English language learners utilizing adult learning theories and best practices.
