LETTER SETTER

Location: Foundry in Cold Spring, MN Department: Letter Setting Supervisor: Craig Hanson
Duties:
Attaches the proper names, dates and emblems to the memorials according to work order specifications.
Requirements:
Understands vast array of lay-outs, designs, products and quality standards critical to producing memorial plates.
Utilizes the work order to pull the correct patterns, emblems, letters and numbers according to specifications.
Measures accurately and draws lines on the pattern to ensure correct placement of text and emblems.
Places beads of melted wax around the base of each emblem, number and letter to affix to the pattern.
Uses handheld propane torch, plastic pick, and/or wire brush to make adjustments to individual characters, to remove excess wax, etc.
Inspects the memorial pattern multiple times ensuring proper spacing, centering, and characters are straight and applies more wax where needed.
Delivers finished patterns to cart to be sent to the molding area.
Assists with sorting and inspecting characters, numbers and emblems returned from molding area to determine which can be reused or recycled.
Reads a tape measure and a shop ticket well.
Possesses good hand/eye coordination with strong spatial perception.
Works well as a team, but must also be self-motivated.
Trains across varying jobs within and external to the department.
Practices continuous improvement and 5S per company standards.
Physical Requirements:
Stands for half the shift.
Reaches and lifts up to 50 pounds.
Uses eyes, wrist, hands and fingers constantly.
Wears personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, etc.
Status:
Full time with flexible hours. Shifts start between 5 AM and 6:30 AM Mon. - Fri. Depending on the start time, shifts end between 2 PM and 3:30 PM Mon. – Thurs. and between 11 AM and 12:30 PM Fri. Overtime as needed.
