Bachelor’s degree; AND two (2) years of academic operations/programs support experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience are required. Master’s preferred.

- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and College regulations and policies.

Job Description:
The College of St. Scholastica seeks a student-centered individual to work in The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). EDI cultivates a campus-wide community which celebrates diversity, empowers students to grow beyond their personal barriers, strengthens students’ understanding of diversity and social responsibility, and develops students’ leadership skills. The Student Support Specialist provides support to students of color and other historically marginalized student populations through advising, mentoring, coordinating and implementing programming, and assisting in outreach and retention. The position reports to the Associate Director, EDI.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide general advising to students of color and other historically marginalized student populations that is inclusive, engaging, innovative for meaningful overall success; bridge faculty and staff relations with students.
- Provide support and oversight to social justice club advisors. Work with Student Activities to ensure social justice clubs are in good standing with student club policies. Attend meetings and events as needed.
- Supervise and coordinate programming and services by EDI, i.e. Center for Just Living (CJL) student coordinators.
- Develop, implement and coordinate programming and communication plans for students who represent historically marginalized populations; coordinate and manage all office related social media and communication including website.
- Manage the CJL spaces and office, the Intercultural Center, and the Jiimaan Abiwinn.
- Coordinate staffing of student employees and supervise operations of the CJL spaces.
- Assist the Admissions Office in outreach efforts toward potential students from marginalized underrepresented populations as needed.
- Provide a full range of retention and outreach services and support services for Black, Indigenous, Students of Color.
- Assist with maintaining relationships with community partners, colleagues and stakeholders as needed.
- Attend events, work flexible hours, some evenings and weekends will be required.
- Provide trainings and workshops on the topic of equity, diversity and inclusion to various departments as needed.
- Serve as a member on various campus-wide committees representing the Office of EDI as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
