Job Description:
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

Under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Research Manager and/or Clinic Manager, student will learn about and be exposed to aspects of clinical research and patient services within the context of a urology private practice. Intern may participate in or provide support for specified clinical data projects, retrospective and/or prospective studies and patient services, e.g., medical records.

This internship is for approximately 32-38 hours/week during day-time clinic hours for a period of 6 weeks. The primary work location will be at the Minnesota Urology Clinic in Woodbury, MN but may also include some work at other Minnesota Urology Clinics in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area depending on availability of a work station, assigned project or task, and/or availability of manager/physician/staff needed for training and/or supervision.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform essential tasks as they relate to assigned projects/work
Tasks may include, but are not limited to assisting with:
Conducting patient chart reviews relevant to assigned task/project
Entering data into a spreadsheet or database
Running basic data queries using data system
Copying/scanning documents and uploading files into the practice EMR or document control/learning management system
Organizing, collating, filing, and/or updating documents or materials
Work in various computer programs/applications as needed to complete assigned work which may include EMR, Excel, Word, MediaLab, PPS Analytics, ClinIQ Analytics


ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ABILITIES TO EFFECTIVELY PERFORM RESPONSIBILITIES:

Represent Minnesota Urology in a professional manner related to appearance, communication and the maintenance of patient confidentiality
Ability to effectively incorporate the use of technology into day-to-day tasks (Urochart and Microsoft Office Suite)
Ability to communicate effectively, take direction, seek help and ask questions when needed
Flexibility to work at different clinic office locations
Consistent attendance and punctuality.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.


QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING:

High school diploma
Currently enrolled in an accredited academic program, preferably within a science or health related field or strong interest in pursuing work or additional education in the health/medical field


EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Computer keyboard, monitor and printer, writing utensils, multi-line telephone, copy/fax machine and scanner.



TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Some bending and stretching required. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard, telephone and other office equipment. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.



TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Office/clinic environment with telephone and in-person contact with providers, manager and patients.
