Job Description: |
Operator arc and gas welding on a wide variety of metals and their alloys, not requiring all-position welding. Includes welding on commercial and military fabrications involving critical safety and load requirements. Requires ability to plan, layout and perform diversified fabrication work. Requires certification to qualified procedures in accordance with Mil-STD 248, ASME Section IX or other code compliance specified by customer contracts (see section 11(e)). Must determine proper machine settings, gas and filler selections for particular base metal and process applications. Operates ring roller and associated equipment as required. Works from specifications, drawings, prints and welding symbols. Requires some supervision. 6,000 hours of experience required to become familiar with various basic trade fundamentals as applied in connection with mill-wrighting to acquire sufficient background to perform work. Performs other duties as designated by supervisor in the same salary grade or below.
