Job Objective(s)

Duties of the Beauty Salon Manager include providing professional hair and/or nail care services for our senior population, scheduling of residents hair appointments, keeping a log of services rendered by residents, cleaning of work areas, towels, hair tools and equipment. Responsible for the supervision and management of the cosmetologist’s and barber.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Provide Hair Care Services including: Shampoo, color, perm, cut, set and comb hair.

Report scalp disorders to family/ or nurse in charge.

Provide Manicure Services including:

Soak, trim, file, buff and polish nails.

Report nail disorders to family/or nurse in charge.

Cleaning and sanitize, work stations and hair care supplies:

Sweep up all hair in work area and wipe up any water or spills.

Help with laundering of towels, capes and neck strips.

Sanitation of all combs, brushes, rollers, cutting implements and or nail implements.

Caring for and cleaning of salon equipment.


Keep up to date records of resident’s perms and colors.

Keep logs of hair services rendered by residents.

Administrative Duties.

Manage shop so all workers function in a professional manner.

Active in hiring of hairdressers/and manicurists.

Order Supplies.

Inform workers of building rules and changes.

Billing coordination.

Annual Budgeting.


Must have a current active cosmetologist manager/operator license.

Experience in hairdressing and or manicuring.

Perform all services and sanitation in a manner consistent with quality standards established by MN Department of Cosmetology.

Knowledge in scalp and or nail disorders.

Ability to relate to a senior clientele

Good work ethic

Maintains confidentiality

Able to read, write, spell, do basic math, speak and understand English.

Independent contractor 1099 Employee.

Is required to have own work comp coverage.

Physical Requirements (based on essential responsibilities)

Must be able to frequently perform tasks such as, but not limited to, those listed below:

Stand for long periods of time. Hand and arm flexibility for applying hair products, shampooing cutting and styling hair. Bend and squat to clean up any product or water spills.

Strength to be able to assist residents into hydraulic chairs

Must be able to continuously perform tasks such as, but not limited to, those listed below:

Move, push, pull and/or lift objects weighing 10 to 25 pounds.

Use hands and arms for simple grasping and flexibility in working with hair.

Perform tasks requiring actions of muscles or groups of muscles to walk, stoop, bend, lift, and to carry objects

Walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time

Speak clearly and make self understood in face-to-face interactions

See objects closely to read directions, instructions, chemical warnings, etc.

Hear normal sounds and voices with some background noise to receive verbal instructions, answer telephones, communicate with others, etc.


Works indoors in a climate controlled environment majority of the time, with a room air purifier.
