QUALIFICATIONS: Required
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Diploma
Highly Qualified status - HQ status as defined by one of the following standards:
60 semester college credits with a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher
ParaPro exam (passing score of 460 or higher, )
Portfolio (Para elink completion of modules with accompanying portfolio documenting competencies, )

POSITION SUMMARY: This class is the third level in the four level Paraprofessional group. Paraprofessionals within this level include EL/ESL, Instructional, Media and Special Education Paraprofessionals. Paraprofessionals provide assistance to licensed staff throughout the learning environment and, under the direction of the building administrator and/or licensed staff, the paraprofessionals in this level are responsible for assisting students with one-on-one and group defined instructional activities, supporting student needs in preparing their lessons for all subject areas and assisting and supervising students during instructional and non-instructional activities. Paraprofessionals in this level also maintain awareness and observe student's activities/actions, assessing behavior including communicating rules, expectations and consequences. Paraprofessionals in this level may also provide administrative support by performing record keeping and clerical functions supporting the building administrator and/or licensed staff and assist the building administrator and/or licensed staff with educational materials or procedures, cataloging, preparing and/or inventorying materials and supplies.
SALARY: $15.65/hr (starting salary for new hires)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: All paraprofessionals in this class are responsible for
Supervise students and assist during instructional and non-instructional activities
Maintain awareness and observe student's activities/actions assessing behavior including communicating rules, expectations and consequences
Promotes the mission and values of the School District
Assists in the development and maintenance of a positive learning environment
Adhere to federal, state and district student data confidentiality and privacy laws
Observe, monitor, and communicate student progress to teachers
Other duties as assigned
Instructional Paraprofessional: The Instructional Paraprofessional is responsible for assisting and encouraging students to learn the specialty under the direction of a professional and to assist students in preparing their lessons for all subject areas when in study hall, Resource Center, and computer lab, etc.
Under direction of the building administrator and classroom teacher, assist students with one-on-one and group defined instructional activities
May perform record keeping and clerical functions supporting the administrator or teacher
Assist the administrator and/or teacher with educational materials or procedures, cataloging, preparing, and/or inventorying materials and supplies
Assist students in classroom activities using specific materials/methods designed by the teacher and support personnel
Collaborate with teachers and instructional personnel for the purpose of assisting in the daily/weekly lesson plans and evaluation of student's progress
PHYSICAL FACTORS:
The ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time; may be exposed to adverse weather
Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing
Light Work: exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
