Job Description:
MEnD Correctional Care is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in Elk River! As a company we pride ourselves on providing high quality care to the patients we serve. Candidates must enjoy working with an underserved population and be willing to work in a county jail facility where patient and staff safety is of high importance. The LPN will provide care under the direction of the Supervisory Nurse, Nursing Director, and Medical Provider and located in the Sherburne County Jail. Hours: + Rotating Days and Evenings + 8 and 12 hour shifts + Every 3rd Weekend & Holiday Rotation Job Duties: + Provide care under the direction of the medical staff. Taking vitals, simple dressing/treatments, reporting information to nurse on-call, assisting with sick call of the inmates/patients, focused assessment, and additional cares as assigned + Accountable for the daily documentation, tracking, procedures, orders, medications, and follow-ups of the inmate/patient?s care with oversight and direction by the RN + Conduct focused assessments through collecting and comparison of data and reporting abnormal finding to an RN + Responsible for the assistance of self-administration of medications to inmates within the jail facility. + Assists with supply inventory, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies. + Responsible for the maintenance and stocking of the items in the medication cart and other areas associated with the self-administration of medications + Collaborates and communicates effectively with the MEnD team of medical providers, nurses, health techs, administrative assistants. Also communicating between the medical unit and the correctional staff in the facilities we serve. + Provides information by answering questions and requests by staff, inmates/patients, and outside sources. + Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks and assisting with expansion of the MEnD jail health philosophy + Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
