Job Description: |
The Executive Director for Atwood, Housing and Retail Operations is expected to provide closely aligned strategic leadership and supervision to the University’s mission and goals for the following functions: Atwood Memorial Center as the student union; Student Housing facilities, Student Housing Operations, and any retail/revenue service operated by 3rd party vendors or by the University for the primarily purposes of [a] serving students, including but not limited to food services, and [b] generating revenue in excess of operating costs. The Position will work to establish successful, productive work relationships with stakeholders and internal support departments. The Position will be responsible for leadership on establishment of revenue goals and room rates, meal plan pricing.
Position Responsibilities: * Develop the budget, establish revenue goals and conduct the monitoring and financial management tasks for the Student Life Division. Develop, implement, monitor and adjust strategies to increase housing, retail and student union revenue from external sources in excess of expenses to provide a financial return for future investment in student union and student housing. Establish clear performance expectations for all staff related to duties which can impact the successful generation of revenue. Incumbent will be responsible for training and monitoring performance of the financial management tasks by department directors in Student Life and Development to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
* Supervise department personnel, including but not limited to hiring, coaching and developing, promoting, rewarding, assigning and reviewing of work, directing work, approving transfers, disciplining, discharging and adjusting grievances to ensure Minnesota State policies and procedures are implemented and appropriately enforced, all applicable laws and regulations are implemented and enforced, and all employees and applicants receive equitable treatment. Establish goals and objectives through which department personnel are also charged to make direct, positive and recurring contributions to student success and student retention through policy development, operational procedures, facilities oversight, customer service standards and mediation for student requests for exception to department policy and/or procedures.
* Develop, recommend and implement capital investments and scheduled replacement of finishing, furniture and equipment in Student Life with a strong emphasis being placed on Atwood Memorial Center and the residential halls. * Serve as the University contract administrator for the University’s food services agreement, which includes residential dining, retail dining, catering and concessions; and other retail and service agreements.

* Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
